The conservation project involves the structural consolidation of the monument, with an investment of 250 thousand euros, guaranteed by funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), resulting from an agreement between the municipality and the Cultural Heritage Safeguarding Fund.

The intervention will involve safeguarding works, namely, the correction of anomalies and the conservation and restoration of various elements such as roofs, stonework, openings, stairs, plaques, panels, bell, cross, clock and also coverings, with a view to counteracting its degradation process.

According to the local authority, the coating, with the application of plaster over the brick, “aims to preserve the brick in question, which has been lost due to disintegration, using for this purpose the solution that was always used until the end of the 20th century, when a municipal intervention removed the plaster coating to place exposed brick”.
