"From October 23rd, Wednesday, Via Panorâmica, in the city of Porto, will undergo an intervention in one of its segments for an estimated period of two months", with a view to "the construction of the future Campo Alegre station", says Metro do Porto in a statement sent to newsrooms.

At issue are implications for traffic on Via Panorâmica, specifically in the section between the Architecture and Literature faculties of the University of Porto, which will be cut for two months.

"During this period of time, road and pedestrian movements are ensured by a new temporary road that will function as an alternative diversion for cars and pedestrians", says the company.

According to the map in the statement, the diversion will be installed west of the current connection between the two colleges, above the old open space used as informal parking.

As is currently the case, it will allow, in one direction, access to Rua do Campo Alegre and, in the opposite direction, access to the Faculty of Architecture for those traveling from Ponte da Arrábida.

According to the carrier, conditioning circulation "is essential for the execution of diversions of deep infrastructure in supply networks, which will allow the construction of the southern connection to the new Rubi Line station".

The global investment value of the Rubi Line (Casa da Música-Santo Ovídio, including a new bridge over the Douro River) is 435 million euros, an investment financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

The Rubi Line, with 6.4 kilometers and eight stations, includes a new crossing over the Douro, the D. Antónia Ferreira bridge, Ferreirinha, which will be exclusively reserved for the metro and pedestrian and bicycle circulation.

In Gaia, the stations planned for the Rubi Line are Santo Ovídio, Soares dos Reis, Devesas, Rotunda, Candal and Arrábida, and, in Porto, Campo Alegre and Casa da Música.

The project must be completed by the end of 2026.
