“TAP Air Portugal ranks fourth among the most economical airlines for traveling around Europe. At the top of the list is the Hungarian Wizz Air, considered the leader in low-cost tickets”, says a statement released by Air Advisor, which places Aegean Airlines and Vueling in second and third place, respectively.
This ranking, prepared based on the analysis of revenue per kilometre per available seat (Rask) of 10 airlines in Europe, evaluated “the revenue efficiency of an airline to demonstrate how much revenue is generated per available seat per kilometre flown”.
The results show that Wizz Air stands out with a value of 0.04 euros per seat-mile in 2023, while at Aegean the average revenue per seat-mile was 0.049 euros and at Vueling it reached 0.07 euros.
In the case of TAP, the average price reached 0.073 euros, while Ryanair, which ranked fifth in this ranking, presented an average rate of 0.0734 euros per seat mile.
According to Anton Radchenko, CEO of Air Advisor, low-cost companies have “presented frequent schedules with several daily options, which make it easier to find the most suitable flights for travelers' schedules”, which means that, in Europe, there are cheaper flights than ground transportation options.
