Seven people were arrested and the group is suspected of at least 16 robberies, according to a statement from the Civil Guard, which revealed that it had recovered objects worth €10 million.
The group used "a high level of violence with firearms to threaten victims", who they handcuffed inside their own homes and forced to reveal the location of valuable objects, such as jewellery, the Civil Guard said.
In addition to the violence, the group had a "high degree of specialisation" in circumventing surveillance systems and used "specialised camouflage and concealment techniques", managing to mislead the police investigation for some time, according to the same statement.
The dismantling of the group resulted from a police investigation that began in June 2024 after the Civil Guard identified a house in southern Spain that the group had turned into a "base of operations".
In this house, seven people were arrested, who the Civil Guard believes to be "the main members of the criminal group", and several stolen objects were recovered, including several of great value, such as jewellery and watches, which were buried in the house's grounds.
"44,500 euros, 23,700 US dollars and 603,000 Ukrainian hryvnias were seized, as well as several gold bars and numerous luxury brand objects," the Civil Guard revealed.
Two cars used in the robberies, firearms, safes, tools used to force entry into homes, cell phones and radio transmission devices, through which the group communicated during the robberies, were also found at the scene.
