The Association Mutualista Montepio Geral plans to invest €25 million in the acquisition of 100 properties for exclusive rental to its members starting this year. According to idealista, the goal is to address growing challenges when it comes to housing accessibility, especially amongst the 600 million members of the institution.

This initiative, which is still awaiting approval from the General Direction of Social Security, should begin this summer, according to Virgílio Lima, president of Mutualista, in an interview with Jornal de Negócios and Antena 1.

This plan foresees the purchase of around 100 housing units, with the objective of addressing the growing challenge of accessible housing, especially among the institution's 600 million members. As cited by Jornal de Negócios, in a statement by Virgílio Lima, this initiative is a means to alleviate the pressure on those who cannot immediately gain access to bank credits or provide the initial payments. Therefore, the units will be rented with the option to buy, giving the associates the opportunity to purchase the homes when their financial situation allows for this.
