Powerdot, an electric vehicle charging operator, has been recognized by Time magazine and Statista as one of the World’s Top 250 GreenTech Companies of 2025. This is for sure, a global acknowledgment of innovation, impact, and forward-thinking solutions in the fight against climate change.

The exclusive list, which evaluated over 8,000 companies worldwide, highlights organizations driving sustainable transformation through measurable environmental impact, financial strength, and cutting-edge innovation. Standing tall among global heavyweights in mobility, carbon capture, and circular economy, Powerdot is the only Portuguese company featured in the ranking, securing the 115th position.

This recognition is more than symbolic! It affirms the rising role of Portugal in the global energy transition. Powerdot has quickly grown into a major player in the electric mobility sector, operating across five European markets: Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, and Poland.

With a network of over 9,000 charging points in around 2,000 locations, the company is building the backbone of Europe’s cleaner transportation infrastructure. Its expansion strategy is rooted in strong partnerships with retail chains and public entities, ensuring accessible and widespread EV charging options. To date, Powerdot has raised over €465 million in equity and debt to scale its operations and accelerate the shift toward low-carbon transport.

Being featured on Time’s global ranking serves as validation of the company’s mission and market impact and positions Powerdot as a leading example of how Portuguese innovation can drive real change on a continental and global scale.

This recognition also highlights the growing strength of Portugal’s green startup ecosystem, where technological ambition meets environmental urgency. As new regulations and societal demands push industries toward decarbonization, Portuguese companies like Powerdot are proving they have the drive, ingenuity, and resilience to lead the charge.

In a sector where transportation continues to be a major contributor to global emissions, Powerdot provides scalable, smart, and impactful solutions. And this international spotlight confirms what many in the industry already suspect: Portugal is no longer just participating in the green revolution with this example; it’s helping lead it.
