The mayor of Lagos, Hugo Pereira, was present at the inauguration and addressed the positive impact on the local economy of the new hotel by Boavista. Hugo Pereira highlighted how the new hotel created new jobs, supports local suppliers and helps to transform Lagos into a year-round destination. Joaquina Matos, former Lagos mayor, also highlighted her joy to be present in the inauguration of the hotel, as it was during her mandate that Boavista Golf & Spa Resort was inaugurated.

The resort’s General Manager, Philip Pope, described the hotel as the “crowning jewel” of the resort’s expansion, emphasizing how excited he was about offering comfort and luxury to the guests. According to Pope, the team is working passionately and planning to ensure that the hotel reflects not only the beauty of the surroundings of Lagos, but also showcases the Algarve hospitality tradition.

The new Boavista Hotel will have a collection of luxury boutique-style rooms and suites, many of them with balconies or terraces overlooking the swaying fairways or the Mediterranean-inspired pools. For meals, there is a fine dining restaurant and a lounge bar, inspired by the Algarve gastronomy, that allows clients to eat with a view of the Lagos Bay.

There is also a wellness centre, connected to the one already existing in the resort, the Essential Fitness & Spa complex, with extended services like massage therapy, sauna, indoor pool, and fitness facilities.

For more professional purposes, there will be a conference and events salon that can also be used for weddings, corporate retreats, golf groups and local gatherings, showing that Boavista Hotel is a destination for both leisure and business.

Guests who stay in the hotel may have the opportunity to enjoy the 18-hole championship golf course, designed by Howard Swan in 2002. Given the drought that has been felt in the region, the Boavista Golf promises to be committed to sustainability. The wastewater treatment was upgraded and can supply treated wastewater for irrigation, reducing the demand on groundwater and surface water resources.

There will be other facilities for guests to enjoy, such as the driving range, short-game practice greens, clubhouse restaurant and bar, outdoor and indoor pools, tennis courts, kids’ clubs, and the games centre featuring archery, pétanque, volleyball, and croquet.

Philip Pope expressed how the hotel reflects Boavista’s commitment to growth and excellence, noting that “this new hotel is more than accommodation, it’s an invitation to experience the best of Lagos and the Algarve, all in one place.”

With the Boavista Hotel now part of the resort, Boavista Golf & Spa strengthens its position as one of the Western Algarve’s premier luxury destinations, offering world-class golf, refined wellness, and immersive seaside charm all in one.
