China’s exports to North Korea increased to $1.05 billion in the first half of 2025 (33 percent), the majority interior building supplies, while imports from North Korea rose to $210 million (20 percent).

The biggest exports, with wallpaper and plastic furniture rising, have been fuelled by rebuilding efforts following last year’s summer floods and the completion of a new beach resort.
