"We want to assure our customers and passengers that we are working diligently to ensure the smooth running of operations during the announced strike period," the ground handling services company said in a statement sent to the press.

Menzies Portugal stated that they welcome "the minimum service levels defined by the CES, which include up to 100% coverage of domestic flights, including to and from the Azores and Madeira," considering this "an unprecedented measure in Portugal, which reinforces the importance of the aviation sector."

The company states that "providing excellent service during this particularly demanding summer period" remains a priority and reiterates that it remains committed "to constructive and good-faith dialogue with unions, fully fulfilling all formally agreed commitments."

The strike notice at Menzies Portugal was issued by the Metallurgical and Related Industries Union (SIMA) and covers various periods between September 3rd and January 2nd, for a total of 76 days.

The first strike period will run until midnight on September 9th, followed by another strike from September 12th to 15th, September 19th to 22nd, and September 26th to 28th.
