The development marks a significant milestone for BSL as it expands its provision and further strengthens its mission to offer world-leading British education in Portugal.

Located within the historic Os Belenenses sports complex - an iconic Lisbon landmark and home to one of Portugal’s most beloved football clubs - the Restelo Campus blends academic excellence with exceptional facilities and a unique community spirit. The partnership with CF Os Belenenses gives students access to top-level sporting facilities and connects them to a vibrant cultural environment, enriching the school experience well beyond the classroom.

Purpose-Built for Learning and Growth

Phase I of the Restelo Campus, completed in September 2024, opened with bright, spacious classrooms, fully equipped science laboratories and purpose-built learning spaces designed to support specialist teaching from Year 6 upwards. The campus setting, just a short distance from the Cais do Sodré primary campus, supports a smooth transition into secondary schooling and reflects BSL’s commitment to personalised learning and student wellbeing.

Phase II of the development is due for completion by July 2026, ensuring that the campus will be fully ready for the school’s second year of IGCSE preparation and the launch of a bespoke A-level programme in September 2027. These steps will allow BSL students to complete their entire secondary education in Lisbon - from early years through to university-preparatory qualifications.

Small Classes, Individual Focus

A hallmark of BSL’s educational approach is its commitment to small class sizes and individualised teaching. By fostering strong relationships between teachers and students, the school ensures that each learner receives meaningful support, tailored challenge and consistent feedback - elements that are widely recognised as key to academic success and personal development. Small classes also allow students to build confidence, engage deeply with subject matter and develop the resilience and self-discipline needed for success at IGCSE and A-level.

A Campus With Purpose and Place

The Restelo Campus’ prime location within the Os Belenenses complex offers more than facilities - it provides a sense of belonging in a community with rich traditions and a love of sport and youth culture. BSL students become part of the wider club community, celebrating football matches and accessing leisure and sporting opportunities that complement their academic life. This unique connection underscores BSL’s philosophy of educating the whole child - academically, socially and physically - in an environment that reflects Lisbon’s energy and cultural diversity.

Beyond its physical setting, the Restelo Campus embodies the school’s broader vision: to prepare students for success in an increasingly interconnected world, while nurturing values such as curiosity, confidence and resilience. The campus’ growing facilities - including next-generation science, arts and technology spaces - further support a balanced and forward-looking education tailored to the demands of the 21st century.

Looking Ahead

As BSL continues to grow head-count and curriculum breadth, families considering international schooling in Lisbon are increasingly drawn to the Restelo Campus for its combination of high-quality teaching, modern facilities and authentic community feel. With its full secondary programme coming over the next few years, the campus is poised to become a cornerstone of international education in Portugal - offering personalised learning pathways, exceptional academic preparation and a truly global outlook.
