The event is promoted by the FVW Medien publishing group, with the support of Algarve Tourism, and the EPIC SANA Algarve hotel will host the participants, “including tour operators, airlines, travel agents and industry experts from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as representatives of entities and companies from the Algarve,” the ATA stated in a press release.
In addition to direct contact with the German representatives, the three-day program also includes “moments of strategic reflection” and “familiarisation visits to the destination” that will allow the tourism decision-makers present to “experience first-hand different tourism experiences and products in the region,” it added.
“29 May will be dedicated to a strategic debate on the Algarve's positioning in the German market, demand trends, challenges and growth opportunities for the destination in the coming years,” the statement says. The debate will also allow representatives of Algarve entities and companies to learn about the "perspective of the main players in the German tourism distribution chain, namely the main airlines and tour operators" from German-speaking countries, he pointed out.
ATA has invited its members to register and participate in the event, which "results from a recruitment effort" aimed at "bringing the destination closer to the main decision-makers in German tourism".
"This workshop will be a strategic opportunity to strengthen dialogue with the German market and work, together with operators and travel agents, on new approaches to promote the Algarve to these visitors," said André Gomes, president of Algarve Tourism, quoted in the ATA statement.
The president of Turismo do Algarve also said that "by bringing this meeting to the region", it facilitates direct contact between members and local partners with those who decide and influence tourist flows to the Algarve destination.
ATA highlighted the importance of the German market for the Algarve, classifying it as "one of the most relevant for tourism" in the region, after registering, in 2025, a "growth of 2.3% compared to the previous year", and 1.4% in overnight stays.
"In this context, Turismo do Algarve strategy for this market involves strengthening the promotion of the destination throughout the year, valuing the discovery of the region's interior, focusing on the diversification of tourism products and the promotion of segments with the potential to reduce seasonality, such as active tourism, nature tourism, golf and the promotion of sporting events capable of attracting visitors outside the high season," he stressed.
