The ruling was made at the Portimão court following allegations of malpractice at Versteeg's clinic in Lagoa towards the end of the last decade.
The charges were levelled at him after he was accused of causing partial blindness to four of his patients.
Another of his workers at he clinic was handed a ten month suspended sentence.
Mr Versteeg carried out laser surgery on me around 5 years ago. The outcome was fine though it was a lengthy period before the eyes settled. A further laser procedure was carried out on one eye and that eye recovered well.
The effect from the surgery is not long lasting but that may be more to do with my age rather than the procedure carried out.
Personally I have no complaints with Mr Versteeg but I did find something in the Dutch press going back many years ago that gave me some cause for concern. Unfortunately I found this out after my treatment. Had I know this prior to the treatment then without doubt I would have gone elsewhere.
