Mr. Bullock said on top of the generous amount raised, donations for the centre, which helps children who have rare illnesses or diseases and their families, are still coming in.
The marathon was a personal goal he set for himself, “which became a perfect opportunity to raise money for a centre that helps my friend and his family.”
Gareth said: “I am amazed and totally honoured at the amount raised and the support I have received before, during and after the event. Despite hardly being able to walk the day after, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience of the training and on the day. It was a very well organised event, attended by such a variety of people.
“The route was lovely from Cascais to Lisbon with the hardest part in the last 6km when the route took you past the docks of Lisbon which was a very long, un-scenic area, but turning the corner to see the finishing area and the crowds bought a whole new lease of life into all the runners. The supporters were fantastic”, he added.
As a surprise, some of the staff from the Rarissimas centre had travelled to Lisbon to see Gareth cross the finishing line.
