“From 20 August until the end of October, this popular entertainment channel in the United Kingdom will broadcast a promotional video from the Algarve, with a duration of 50 seconds, which will be shown about 38 times a week and will result in an exhibition of 175,000 weekly views”, advances ATA, in a press release.
The objective is to lift the restrictions imposed on travellers arriving in the United Kingdom from Portugal, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, underlines the association.
“We are strongly committed to reversing the negative effects that resulted from the British Government's decision and that includes, among other things, reinforcing and repeating the message, in this market, that the Algarve is a safe destination and that it is fully prepared to welcome its tourists with all the quality and well-being to which they have always been accustomed”, highlights the president of ATA, quoted in the statement.
João Fernandes believes that the campaign “will have a significant impact” and that “the United Kingdom will change its decision very soon”, allowing the Algarve to recover the “main tourist emitter market”.
“In addition to promoting the notoriety of the Algarve as a safe destination, the exhibition of this video will also have an associated competition aspect, which will allow spectators to participate in a draw to qualify to win a 7 night stay in the region for two people, in a five star hotel. This prize will be valid until the end of the summer of 2021”, reads the same note.

Waste of money, hardly anyone watches channel 5 anyway. People aren't willing to travel against foreign office advice since the travel insurance isn't valid. Be better spending the money to guarantee repatriation if a traveller got ill or lockdown reimposed.

I'll be travelling to Faro next Tuesday, Jet2 flight permitting. If no Jet2, and it hasn't cancelled the flight yet, I'll fly Ryanair. Read article on travel insurance here, I'm surprised this hasn't had more publicity Quarantine on return will be an issue for some unless lifted. Don't disagree with point about C5. Press ads would be more effective.

Please keep the British tourists out. Corona much worse in the UK than Portugal and we should not want to import corona from British tourists.
