Close to 300 GNR officers patrolled Sines World Music festival, in Porto Covo, to ensure safety at the event, which started on Friday 22 July and ended last Sunday.
During the operation one person was also detained for drunk-driving, 132 tickets were issued for drug-related offences, and 82 traffic fines were issued.
A further 39 tickets were written out by police for offences relating to illegal camping and caravanning in the South-West Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, where “staying over between 8pm and 8am” is forbidden.
A large quantity of drugs including hashish, MDMA, cocaine, ecstasy and LSD, as well as personal defence weapons including pepper spray and knives, were also confiscated from festival-goers.
The police action was staged in the immediate vicinity of the World Music Festival, at the entrance to Sines castle and its main avenues, as well as on roads accessing the event.
