The ECOPRAIAIS campaign, 2019 was promoted by the waste company Amarsul, one of the concessionaires of the Empresa Geral de Fomento (EGF) group, and involved more than 400 staff
In a statement, EGF explains that this campaign "had a special focus on children who go to the beach with holiday camps", aimed at raising their awareness of good environmental practices and making them aware of the proper separation of packaging waste.
A total of 22,700 children were involved in this campaign, in a total of 91,400 people.
"The packaging was collected through recycling bins, together with backpackers from Amarsul, who visited the beaches and collected 50 tons of plastic and metal, 35 tons of paper and cardboard and 80 tons of glass".
The data of this campaign will be presented today in the municipality of Almada, in a session where the ECOVALOR programme will be launched, which aims to make good environmental practices known to the school community.
EGF is made up of 11 concession companies, responsible for the management of solid urban waste in 174 municipalities in the country, serving a population of 6.2 million people.
