NOS Audiovisuais marketing director told Lusa that the advance sale of tickets surpassed all expe4ctations with various screenings sold out – particularly Thursday and Saturday, St. Valentine’s Day, and that the film has become a “marketing phenomenon".


In Portugal the film is for over 16s, "The fifty shades of Grey", by Sam Taylor-Johnson, is an adaptation of the first book in the erotic trilogy, also an international success, written by British writer E.L James.


The trilogy is built round the sexual games of Christian Grey, a 27-year-old billionaire, and Anastasia (Ana) Steele, a university student. The books sold about 100 million copies round the world.


The NOS marketing director said that most of the spectators who bought advance tickets in Portugal were women aged between 20 and 40.
