The road, which measures just under 740 kilometres, is the longest in the country.

However, those located along the route believe the road has additional appeal, as it is the third longest in the world, after Route 66 in the United States and Rota 40 in Argentina.

The EN2 cuts through 36 municipalities, with plans to seek EU funding to make the route more accessible and attractive.
