After qualifying from Guy’s Hospital, London, Dr. Haley spent several years in private practice in Paris. During his time there he did extensive post-graduate training notably in the specialities of periodontology ( diagnosis and treatment of gum disease) and implant surgery. Since moving to Portugal he has participated in several ‘hands-on’ courses, most recently one for microscopic dental procedures with a team of Portugal’s top specialists.
For the last two years, Dr. Haley has been joined on a part-time basis by Dr. Jessica Wright, a young dentist of dual Portuguese and British nationality. She completed her studies at the Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde Egas Moniz in the Lisbon area, qualifying in 2016. In the Cascais clinic she helps regularly with implant surgeries, an area she is very enthusiastic about. By assisting and eventually performing these more advanced procedures, Dr. Wright complements the skills acquired by postgraduate training, a fundamental part of professional activity. Amongst the training she has recently completed she was particularly interested in a course concerning aesthetic restorative techniques.
The practice is primarily concerned with prevention - promoting the importance of routine check-ups, oral hygiene instruction and, for those patients who have already received restorative treatment, maintenance and follow-up.
However on a daily basis dentists are frequently confronted with more demanding situations and with patients requiring more comfort, better aesthetic and functional solutions to their problems and with the perennial concern of cost-effectiveness. In response to these demands Dr Haley and his team are continually up-dating both skills and
material. The above mentioned training led to the acquisition of an operating microscope and earlier this year the chair and instrument delivery system was changed.
Dr. Haley’s office is centrally located near the ‘mercado’ and Cascais train station. In case of emergencies, telephone calls out of office hours will be redirected to the mobile phone of a staff member who will arrange an appointment as soon as possible.
