According to the GNR a series of police operations staged over 8 and 9 April with a view to preventing and fighting road crime saw a total of 148 people detained. While the majority of the arrests were made for drink-driving, others were made for driving without a licence, drug trafficking and being in possession of an illegal weapon. A large amount of drugs and stolen goods were confiscated over the 48-hour campaign.
