The specialities of neurology, gynaecology/obstetrics, infectious diseases, cardiology and anaesthesiology have seven vacancies each and those of gastroenterology, psychiatry and radiology six jobs to fill.

Doctors who hold the specialist degree, or the consultant degree, in one of the identified areas of specialisation, integrated with the special medical career or in the medical career, and who have a public employment contract for an indefinite period may apply for this contest.

According to the dispatch, the greatest needs are identified in areas such as the Algarve, Alentejo, and northeast of Trás-os-Montes.

Earlier in the month an order was published authorising 435 vacancies for family doctors (general and family medicine), 216 of which in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, 86 in the North, 64 in the Centre, 34 in the Alentejo and 35 in the Algarve.
