The measure was once of several announced yesterday by Algarve councils, along with the deferral of deadlines to pay water bills, among others, to help house-bound families.
The tourist tax was already being applied in Vila Real de Santo António and Faro, with other municipalities in the Algarve preparing to start applying it.
I'm puzzled by the Tourist Tax announcement. What can it possibly affect if there are to be no tourists for the foreseeable future?
Or is it payable by tourist establishments whether or not they have clients?

In your article about Algarve tourist tax 28/3 it is headed by a photograph of a blue and white tiled staircase leading to a church? I am not familiar with this and would like to know where it is please. Thank you.
