According to information published this morning by the Portuguese Met Office, Aljezur, Monchique, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira, Alcoutim and Castro Marim have all been placed on red alert.
The advisory is based on prevailing weather conditions and includes a number of prohibitions, such as smoking in a forested area.
