Action was carried out as part of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
In total 131 pieces were seized and five violations regarding the organisation, maintenance and updating of the CITES register were logged.
Among the pieces confiscated were two large elephant tusks, without any markings of certification, weighing around 14 kilos and measuring 120 centimetres each.
The Lisbon Metropolitan Police command said it will “continue to be committed to developing activities in environmental protection, focusing increasingly on raising the environmental awareness of citizens.”
