João Sousa moves to career high tennis ranking

João Sousa, already Portugal’s highest-ranked tennis player of all time, has improved his ranking by 12 positions after winning the Valencia Open last night.

Sousa has climbed to 34^th in the rankings in one of the year’s final ATP tournaments.

Sousa had lost five consecutive finals before his win over Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, to claim only his second tournament victory on the tour.
