The beaches of Porto de Mós and Meia Praia, the coastal zone of Ponta da Piedade and the urban perimeter of Odiáxere will be the intervention areas.

The cleaning actions in Lagos will take place on 21 September , National Beach Cleaning Day, at 9am, with an initiative of #LitterHero Lagos in Porto de Mós Beach. With the support of the Oceano Azul Foundation, this initiative aims to mobilize volunteers, groups, associations, NGOs and movements that want to participate in the cleaning of marine litter.

Already on September 24, LPN - League for Nature Protection promotes a cleaning action in Meia Praia, as part of the campaign “Let's Clean Our Beaches” of the project Amar o Mar, already in its 3rd edition. The meeting point for the activity is next to the Barrigada Restaurant at 9:30 am.

Similar to what was done in 2018 in Meia Praia, the Municipality organizes a new action of removal and cleaning of the weeping willow, this time near the Ponta da Piedade lighthouse, between 10am and 12pm, on October 1st. The initiative is part of the Environmental Volunteering Education and Initiatives Week - SEIVA 2019, carried out by the Portuguese Environment Agency, and aims to intervene in places with a high concentration of this plant. The weeping willow (Carpobrotus edulis) is a species of invasive plant originating in South Africa that was cultivated in the past to fix dunes and slopes. However, the presence of the weeping willow prevents the development of native vegetation, and its removal is important.

The action will be supported by the Lagos Live Science Centre, A Rocha Association, Intermarché de Lagos and Ecoambiente. During the morning, participants will be offered free gifts, as well as sun-baked pizzas at a Solar Snack that will raise awareness of the importance of using renewable energy. For registration, you can send email to lagos+ambiente@cm-lagos.pt until the 27th of September.

On October 13th, it will be Odiáxere's turn to enter environmental activities with a clean-up action inside the parish's urban perimeter, more specifically along its secondary roads. The initiative will take place from 7 am in Largo da Alegria (near Moinho) and will be attended by the Group of residents and friends of Odiáxere Village and with the support of the Parish Council and local businesses.

Be part of these initiatives and contribute to taking care of the Lagos Environment.
