Following an investigation that took place about 5 months ago, it was found that the suspect was not only packing and handling highly explosive material (gunpowder) without any kind of safety conditions, but was also engaged in the manufacture and illegal sale of pyrotechnic artefacts made from his home and the storerooms of a former pyrotechnic factory.

Following the investigation, two search warrants were served, resulting in the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of 250kg of gunpowder, 4744 rockets and other pyrotechnic artefacts, 10 metres of detonation cord, 10 metres of slow cord and other materials used for the manufacture of pyrotechnic artefacts.

Taking into account the degree of danger and instability of the seized materials, as well as the high quantity, the Porto Explosives Inactivation Team, following the stipulated safety protocols, made the safe disposal of the materials on site.
