In 2014 and 2015 tolls remained unchanged since the inflation rates were both negative (-0.27 percent and -0.12 percent).
The last toll hike was in 2013 and it was 2.03 percent.
The increases will be rounded to the nearest 5 cent.
Motorway tolls to go up in January
Motorway tolls in Portugal are expected to rise by 0.62 percent in January in accordance with the inflation rate, the Portuguese National Statistics Institute (INE) published on Wednesday.

I have been to Portugal many times and have spent months there and recommend it to many friends who have also gone there. But the only thing that is extremely bothersome is the method of paying tolls on the toll road in the Algarve. It is ludicrous and annoying. The extra tolls should be put to use as a new method of collection to be made available for tourists and locals. Going to a post office to pay ...really.
Buy a card for usage and use it or a transponder.
My thoughts only but nevertheless a beautiful country.
