A source from the CDOS- Comando Distrital de Operações de Socorro of Porto has said that “the accident happened with a car in which five individuals were travelling.”

According to the source, at around 1.30pm one of the car occupants was being “assisted on the spot,” while two other occupants only suffered “minor injuries.”

No information about the age of the victims or the injuries that the victims sustained are known currently.

The accident was reported at around 11.46am in the National Road (EN) EN108 in Canelas, parish of Penafiel, district of Porto.

Emergency services were at the scene at around 1.30 pm, firefighters from the cooperation’s of Paços de Sousa, Melres and Entre-os-Rios, as well as the GNR, National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) and the Maritime Police were involved as the car had crashed into water, near the Douro river.
