At The Portugal News we have taken the very difficult decision to reach out to you, our readers, to help us to continue to bring you free, unbiased and professional reporting, by asking you to consider making a donation, however small, to help the team to continue to work.
We have always prided ourselves on bringing our news to you for free in the vast majority of cases and want to be able to continue to do so both online and in the weekly printed edition. We do not want to put up pay walls or to limit your access to the news each day.
Our usual source of revenue comes from our loyal advertisers, however they too have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and this has led to a considerable loss of revenue, while our overheads remain the same.
Throughout the crisis we have continued with our small and dedicated team, to provide the weekly printed newspaper, to deliver this across the country and to provide essential daily updates about the current situation and other news across Portugal in English.
We are asking readers to make a donation to The Portugal News to help support the company during this time until business returns to usual, hopefully sooner rather than later. Any money raised will be used to directly support the funding of producing the newspaper and for no other reason.
We understand that these are unprecedented times and that there are many people in need and ask that readers who are able to show their support through a donation of any size, do so only if they are financially able to.
The Portugal News has been part of the community since 1977 and we want to be able to continue to bring you all of the news for many more years, your donation, no matter how modest, can help us to continue to do this.
Support your local newspaper by supporting The Portugal News.

Love your format. Breaking up news from most recent and then down onto other timelines.

I tried to make a donation but every time I clicked "continue" it went nowhere. I rely on your publication to bring me relevant local news for my adopted country of Portugal, and I'd like to help...but can't..??

You might get some support from me if you would more implement a more reliable system for submitting comments. 90% of mine never get shown on the website.
