The US-based organisation said Portugal had risen six positions due to factors such as inclusion and individual rights, but fared less positively when it came to access to health care and university education.
The list is topped by Norway, with Portugal ranked higher than the United States, Belgium and Austria.
Congratulations to Portugal. I am not surprised. Truly one of great nations of the world!
As far as the U.S. ranking is concerned, there are dozens upon dozens of
big to medium-big cities that are govern by liberal-progressives. That alone
will drive down the quality of anybody's life experience. It is simply awful.
I.E. Los Angeles, Baltimore, Chicago, New York, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco,
Saint Louis, Philadelphia, anywhere in New Jersey are terrible places to live. Nobody with any sense would want to live in a big U.S. city. Period. Filth and destruction. The list is almost endless. Other than that, the U.S. is a great place to live with President Trump's prosperity and a wonderful list of wonderful aspects of life that is way to long to list here.

I wonder if you would say the same if you were say, an immigrant, or any other than white, or gay. That prosperity is only for some, and even that has been funded by extreme government borrowing. Trump is the laughing stock of the world. But just like the roman empire at its height, corruption lives at the highest level, and its on its way out, a matter of time. But good of you that come to a Portugal article to make your main argument how great Trump is.

Look where you live Mr. Rebouta, a socialists breeding ground. By the tone of your words, you are government depended. Are you on the dole? To bad you are trying to checkmate free speech. Typical tactic of regressives.

BTW, we love President Trump and he will be reelected in a landslide.
Most of the world respects and admires President Trump. Deal with it!

This debate can be very personal. Depending whete you from in this world. Coming from a country like South Africa whete the unemployment rate is nearly 60% and crime even higher! Portugal is a dream to live in. I have just been there and would do anything to get a working visa or residency.
Still for me to stay there Euro vs Rands!!! Have to weigh it up.....Freedom. .safety or financial status....

Mr. Rebouta,
I would like to share this bit of information with you about one of the "progressive-utopian" cities here in the U.S.

It's becoming deadlier to be homeless on the streets of the second largest city in the country, according to a newly released report by California officials.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said in a report released Tuesday that between 2013 and 2018 the number of homeless deaths doubled from 536 to 1,047. The overall death rate, which accounts for increases in the total homeless population in the area, was up by over a third in that same period.
"Put simply, being homeless in LA County is becoming increasingly deadly," the report's authors noted.
Drug and alcohol overdose was the largest contributor to the overall increase in the homeless death rate, accounting for 27 percent of the deaths between 2016 and 2018. The overdose death rate for homeless individuals was 26 times higher than among the general population.
Other causes of death were injury and violence at 24 percent, coronary heart disease at 22 percent, and transportation-related injuries at 9 percent. Six percent of homeless deaths, about 222 people, were attributed to homicide, while 185 deaths were from suicide, about 5 percent of deaths in the time period.
Thank you Portugal News!

Apart from economic opportunity and convenience, Portugal is a better place to live than the US. Our president is a disaster who has a devout following of simple minded people, who don't think or question anything. Anyone in his circle that has questioned him or does not pledge allegiance to him gets thrown in the gutter. Even the guy in charge of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is an oil executive. Anyone with a brain can see this president using the office for his own benefit, with no regard for the country. He thrives on confrontation, no wonder he has a trade war with so many countries. Luckily I'm moving to Portugal where everything is more civilized and safe.
