A shortage of small change saw the country import 272 million of the tiny brown 1 and 2 cent coins.
At the same time, it sold off 2.1 million 2 euro coins.
It was described as the ‘largest logistical operation’ involving coins since the end of the escudo.
Seems like they're downsizing their economy. I also heard they were going to stop using the 500 Euro note...
