According to the property index, the number of new hotels licensed last year has remained stable since 2017 when 84 were licensed.

The number of new hotel projects launched in 2018 raises the number of hotels that were licensed between 2016 and 2018 to 256 units, the report said.

According to Confidencial Imobiliário, in the past four years, the Metropolitan Areas of Lisbon and Porto are the main investment destinations for new hotels.
