The majority of the new coronavirus cases registered on Saturday were in and around Lisbon and across the northern region. Stricter measures to curb the coronavirus outbreak will be introduced across Portugal from mid-September as students return to schools and many workers go back to the office, although details have yet to be announced.

Old news. It was much lower yesterday and why are you reporting numbers from Saturday on a Monday. Click bait nonsense.

Is that cases or positive PCR tests? A positive PCR test doesn't mean sick people, hospitalisations or deaths, right? Isn't it actually a good thing when "cases" go up, but hospitalisations go down? Heard Immunity?

It’s not sick people it’s just from the more pcr Tests that have many mistake rate

@Fred
The numbers are always a date late as they have to be collated, except at weekends where they are two days late. So this is the most current data available.
And it's 'herd immunity' not heard.
Some people are way too clever for their own good!

Even with Sunday’s lower numbers the trend is still on the rise, It is right that people are informed as we do not want to get complacent.

L'afflux des touristes n'est pas étranger à tout cela...mais comme le Portugal a donné priorité à l'économie par rapport au sanitaire, il doit en supporter les conséquences...

Hello, You state in your brief article, the "new coronavirus cases".
Is this of the many various types and variants of the corona viruses, or is it specifically for corona virus COVID-19?

More fear mongering non-scientific click bait.
We are reaching herd immunity despite the harmful lock down.

A positive PCR test means that although may be asymptomatic, these cases distribute the disease in the society and need to be under medical control. It is not possible to speak about ''Herd Immunity'' until 60 to 70% of the population has antibodies against Covid 19, which we are far away and yet do not know how long these antibodies will last in blood hence protect a re-infection. Today Portugal had 646 cases which nearly doubles the numbers since months. we all need to be very careful and help the government, society and especially health care workers to be able to contain this peak as effectively and early as possible , as winter is approaching, schools will be starting on 14th and none of us can tolerate another lock down but for this we all need to be responsible residents.
