The inspiration for Hugo Costa's collection comes from South Korea, more precisely from the women Haenyeo, divers who created a semi-matriarchal society in that country.

"At a time when equality is so much spoken about, it seemed pertinent to reinforce the reversal of roles," said Costa, in a statement from Portugal Fashion, sent to Lusa.

Costa is to present on Tuesday his collection in Le Marais, a fashion neighbourhood, for spring-summer 2020, having chosen strong, vibrant colours, with classic textures in contrast to some technological fabrics.

On Tuesday, Portuguese fashion begins a three-day show in Paris that will bring 30 designers and national brands to this fashion week.

This event, called "Showcase Portugal", is promoted by the Textile Intelligence Centre (CENIT) and an association of industries and apparel (ANIVEC) and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

The "Showcase Portugal" is to take place from 18 to 20 June, and its inaugural event will count on the participation of the secretary of state for internationalisation, Eurico Brilhante Dias.
