A source close to the case told Lusa News Agency that prosecutor Orlando Figueira, who worked at the Central Investigation and Penal Action Department (DCIAP in the original Portuguese), had been arrested on suspicion of committing economic crimes while working as a magistrate. Newspaper Correio da Manhã newspaper said Figueira, who has been on unpaid leave since 2012, allegedly received bribes of more than €1 million to close high-profile cases related to Angola.
