According to Bank of Portugal data, Portuguese emigrants' remittances fell from €370.2 million in July last year to €369.8 million in July this year, representing a slight drop of 0.1%.

The funds sent by foreigners working in Portugal to their countries of origin fell 13.7%, from €46.58 million in July 2018 to €40.19 million in July this year.

Looking only at Portuguese-speaking African countries, the trend is reversed, as the Portuguese working in Portuguese-speaking Africa sent €34.45 million home in July, which represents an increase of 25.3% compared to the €26.51 million they had sent in July last year.

Meanwhile, Portuguese-speaking African workers working in Portugal sent €3.4 million to their countries in July, an increase of 6.6% compared to the €3.19 million sent in July last year.
