During 2015 there were around 36,000 violations recorded for lack of a seat belt or lack of a car seat for a child, representing a 26 percent increase in comparison to 2014. Porto was found to be the area of Portugal with the most violations, followed by Braga and Aveiro. Police will be out on the roads looking for seat belt violations in particular until Sunday as part of a Europe wide operation.
