The event, organised by the Automobile Club de Portugal, was to take place for the first time between 16 and 21 September and was also eligible for the International Automobile Federation's all-terrain World Cup. According to the statement from the FIM, the organisation is making “all efforts so that the race takes place in 2022”. Thus, the calendar now has five rounds, two of them (Kazakhstan and Silk Road) already played.

The next round will be the Sertões International Rally, in Brazil, from 13th to 22nd August. This is followed by the Morocco Rally, from 8th to 13th October and the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, from 6th to 12th November.
