According to a report from Lusa News agency, the games played in the Portuguese Cup, the Portuguese Championship, the Revelation League and the national women’s championships will be the ones covered by this project, which resulted from the request of the FPF to IFAB, following works carried out with the participation of the Players Union Football Professionals (SJPF).
This possibility will take effect from 9 February, with Sporting de Espinho receiving the first match at Recreativo de Águeda, counting for the 15th round of the Portuguese Championship.
For this to happen, the emergency committee of the FPF management also approved on 8 February the regulatory change that will allow, from now on, players suffering from cerebral concussion to be replaced even if the team has already exhausted the regulatory substitutions.
The same source explained to Lusa that the FPF opted for protocol A of this IFAB experiment, so that each team may have an extra replacement up to a maximum of one player due to a head injury.
