A source from the District Operations Command (CDOS) of Portalegre indicated that the alert for the fire in Monte Dom João, in Casa Branca, in the municipality of Sousel, was given at 2:42pm , with the flames consuming an area of forest.

The same source revealed that the fire has two active fronts.

101 firefighters are involved (at 17:42) in fighting the flames, aided by 30 vehicles and five aerial firefighters.
