The works are being carried out by the municipal company Penafiel Verde, through a project co-financed with European funds, which provides for detection and intervention in infrastructure.
At this stage, according to the municipality in the district of Porto, work is being carried out in the parishes of Rio Mau and Rio de Moinhos, where the existing networks are old and had high water losses.
The company acquired “technologically advanced” equipment to assemble in 45 measuring zones and 22 pressure reducing valves, to provide the network with control mechanisms.
Data from the monitoring of measurement and control equipment will be continuously linked to a remote management system, allowing for rapid intervention on leaks detected.
The municipality stresses that “the implementation of this project reinforces Penafiel's contribution to reducing the volume of water lost in the distribution system”, guaranteeing the “quality and efficiency of the service provided”.
