According to a report by Notícias ao Minuto, the three
individuals, aged 24, 25, and 37, were seen engaging in "suspicious behaviour"
near an EMEL parking meter located on a road in the Olivais Norte area.
The PSP also claims to have been informed that a vehicle was
serving as support to them, "to allegedly perpetrate the theft".
Being aware of the characteristics of the suspects and the
vehicle used, the agents were able to intercept them about 500 metres from the
site of the crime.
The police action resulted in the seizure of 134.75 euros, a
crowbar, scissors, spanners, gloves, a hammer, pliers, screwdrivers, and ratchet
wrenches.
EMEL, the entity that manages the parking meters, was also
contacted, and revealed its intention to proceed with criminal proceedings
against the suspects.
