The
photograph shows ALL organisers Pat Roberts and Libby North giving the €1,000
in cash to Caroline Langston at the Algarve Emporium location in the Between
the Lines restaurant in Tunes.
Also in the
photograph is Fátima, the owner of the restaurant, who kindly allows the
Emporium to use her facilities.
The ALL
group consists of a set of Algarve-based ladies who meet once a month to enjoy lunch together and raise money for charity. They meet at different restaurant
locations each month and have been working together for more than ten years. During
this time, they have raised many thousands of Euros for good causes during the
time.
The Algarve
Emporium is a charity that obtains and supplies food for people in need in the
Tunes area. At present, the Emporium has 31 families that they assist, but over
the 3 years they have been operating, they have helped more than 65 families.
The
distribution is managed from the Between the Lines Restaurant in Tunes, where
they meet every Friday from 11:30 to 12:30. Each family receives a bag, once
every 2 weeks which contains meat, potatoes, eggs, and various dried and tinned
foods.
Another
luncheon group that Pat and Libby are involved with is quaintly known as the
Serranas, or Ladies of the Hills, which had donated a large amount of the staples,
which were also donated to the Emporium to help supply the families.
And lastly,
an appeal had been made for warm clothing, so Pat and Libby supplied many
jumpers and jackets, etc, which were greatly appreciated by the locals.
