The KTM driver starts the race at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, which begins at 13:00 hours, from the 10th position on the grid, after crashing on Saturday during his last attempt to improve his time in the qualifying session.

Oliveira had a time of 1.39.445 minutes, 0.583 seconds more than the fastest lap, held by the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), who, with 1.38.862, set a new record on the Portuguese circuit, which previously belonged to Miguel Oliveira.

Spaniard Alex Rins (Suzuki) was second, 0.089 seconds from Quartararo, with Frenchman Johan Zarco (Ducati) third, 0.129 seconds, despite a drop in the first of two runs to the track. Spaniard Marc Márquez (Honda) was sixth, 0.259 seconds.

The Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), who had dominated the time for 'pole' for half a second, ended up falling to the 11th position, as his record was achieved under the situation of yellow flags, due to the fall of Miguel Oliveira.

Out of the race is Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati), the victim of a violent crash during the third free practice session, which caused bruises on his right head, hand and ankle.
