The measure follows the contract-program established in June between the Institute of Health Administration (IASAÚDE) and the Funchal Commercial and Industrial Association, to promote antigen testing (TRAg) for SARS-CoV-2 to residents in the region and tourists during their stay, as well as travellers arriving in Porto Santo from Madeira or in Madeira from Porto Santo.
The Madeira government decided, after a meeting of the Regional Government Council, to change the contract and will increase by 30 thousand the number of rapid tests made available to ACIF members, which is now 60 thousand.
“In this period there are thousands of people traveling to the island of Porto Santo, leading to greater use by the population of tests for those purposes”, says the government.
The alteration of the contract-program implies an increase in the financial support granted to ACIF, totalling €900,000.
Why not invest in ANTIBODY TESTING? Oh yes, because that won’t make any money for Big Pharma.
