A PSP source told Lusa: “It was an occurrence that took place around 13:17 (20 October), a young man between 18 and 20 years old was attacked with a knife and died at the Laranjeiras station”.
According to the police, the suspects in the murder are two men, the ages and what motivated the attacks on the young man inside the Metropolitano de Lisboa station are still unknown.
“The metro was not interrupted, it is simply not stopping at Laranjeiras station”, indicated the PSP.
The two men suspected of the murder "fled after the attack", so efforts are being made to identify and arrest them, said the PSP.
Metropolitano de Lisboa said that it could make video surveillance images available to the authorities responsible for investigating the murder.
Safer country in Western Europe? Isn't this what the minister responsible for public safety portfolio (Internal Administration) tells you all the time? When people start to get killed in public places, without any explanation, I start to feel confused, unsafe and avoid sightseeing or just walking outside in "our" wonderful Lisbon! It looks like it doesn't matter how careful you might be! The worse is that later on, after arrests are made, no details are ever given to the public about these crimes, the suspects or the areas of higher criminality so that people would take precautionary actions!
