The alert for the occurrence was received by the rescue teams at 5:15am and "fire teams are still on site", said a Civil Protection source.

“There was an explosion which caused damage to a house, and there were four victims with injuries, two serious and two light, one of them a Civil Protection officer, belonging to the Fire Department”.

Asked whether the explosion had affected more homes or motor vehicles, the same source replied that there was no information available. Regarding the causes of the explosion, he said it was still too early to determine what caused it.
