The order, published in Diário da República and signed by the Assistant Secretary of State and Internal Administration, Antero Luís, approves the installation and operation of the video surveillance system in Porto.
The system, composed of 79 fixed cameras, will cover the streets and public spaces of downtown, namely, in the Union of Parishes of Cedofeita, Santo Ildefonso, Sé, Miragaia, São Nicolau and Vitória.
Video surveillance will work 24 hours a day and every day of the week.
“The capture of sounds is prohibited, except when there is a concrete danger to the safety of people, animals and property”, notes the document, adding that the person responsible for the conservation and processing of data is the head of the operational area of the Metropolitan Command of Porto of the PSP.
