Following Bellew's dismissal, the company appointed David
Morgan, as interim chief operating officer.
The low-cost airline's executive chairman, Johan Lundgren,
thanked Bellew in a statement for his "hard work" and wished him
"the best" for the future. “Everyone at easyJet remains absolutely
focused on running a safe and reliable operation this summer,” said Lundgren,
as the airline faces increasing pressure to reduce current flight schedule
changes.
The aviation sector is experiencing problems managing the
increase in demand for air travel, at the same time as suffering from a shortage
of staff. So far this summer, easyJet has been forced to cancel thousands of
flights due to a shortage of workers.
Quiting is an act of considerable courage and virtue, not the opposite.
